4. Union in Crisis

Students will analyze the causes and effects of the Civil War, including postwar efforts to reconstruct the Southern states.

Students will analyze the causes and effects of the Second Industrial Revolution, continued immigration, and the nation’s unrelenting expansion west.

6. Entering the World Stage

Students will analyze the causes and effects of the United States’ transformation into a world power.

7. The First World War

Students will analyze the events and ideas that pushed the United States into World War I and the efforts the nation took to help the Allies win the war.
